Trying LJ Again, Round 3?

Hi everyone,

I figure I haven't updated this thing in over a year but I am really enjoying going back and rereading some posts so I guess it is worth a shot giving this another... shot.

For those who I haven't talked to in a long time, I am pretty much at the same place that I have been for awhile. I am at the same job I posted about above, I still live with Mr. Manos (he hasn't molested me yet, yay), I still float around and about, and I am generally doing well. I have lost almost all of my interest in clubs except when it involves meeting up with friends at them.

That stupid game WoW has sucked me back in. Luckily, it is sucking other people back in too so I guess it is working out.

How is everyone else doing out there in cyberspace?

Also, I need to work on commenting on other people's posts, it is an art rarely practiced by me but one I wish to improve upon.

DRUIDS, n. Priests and ministers of an ancient Celtic religion which
did not disdain to employ the humble allurement of human sacrifice.
Very little is now known about the Druids and their faith. Pliny says
their religion, originating in Britain, spread eastward as far as
Persia. Caesar says those who desired to study its mysteries went to
Britain. Caesar himself went to Britain, but does not appear to have
obtained any high preferment in the Druidical Church, although his
talent for human sacrifice was considerable.
Druids performed their religious rites in groves, and knew nothing
of church mortgages and the season-ticket system of pew rents. They
were, in short, heathens and -- as they were once complacently
catalogued by a distinguished prelate of the Church of England --
Dissenters.

GHOUL, n. A demon addicted to the reprehensible habit of devouring
the dead. The existence of ghouls has been disputed by that class of
controversialists who are more concerned to deprive the world of
comforting beliefs than to give it anything good in their place. In
1640 Father Secchi saw one in a cemetery near Florence and frightened
it away with the sign of the cross. He describes it as gifted with
many heads an an uncommon allowance of limbs, and he saw it in more
than one place at a time. The good man was coming away from dinner at
the time and explains that if he had not been "heavy with eating" he
would have seized the demon at all hazards. Atholston relates that a
ghoul was caught by some sturdy peasants in a churchyard at Sudbury
and ducked in a horsepond. (He appears to think that so distinguished
a criminal should have been ducked in a tank of rosewater.) The water
turned at once to blood "and so contynues unto ys daye." The pond has
since been bled with a ditch. As late as the beginning of the
fourteenth century a ghoul was cornered in the crypt of the cathedral
at Amiens and the whole population surrounded the place. Twenty armed
men with a priest at their head, bearing a crucifix, entered and
captured the ghoul, which, thinking to escape by the stratagem, had
transformed itself to the semblance of a well known citizen, but was
nevertheless hanged, drawn and quartered in the midst of hideous
popular orgies. The citizen whose shape the demon had assumed was so
affected by the sinister occurrence that he never again showed himself
in Amiens and his fate remains a mystery.

HADES, n. The lower world; the residence of departed spirits; the
place where the dead live.
Among the ancients the idea of Hades was not synonymous with our
Hell, many of the most respectable men of antiquity residing there in
a very comfortable kind of way. Indeed, the Elysian Fields themselves
were a part of Hades, though they have since been removed to Paris.
When the Jacobean version of the New Testament was in process of
evolution the pious and learned men engaged in the work insisted by a
majority vote on translating the Greek word "Aides" as "Hell"; but a
conscientious minority member secretly possessed himself of the record
and struck out the objectional word wherever he could find it. At the
next meeting, the Bishop of Salisbury, looking over the work, suddenly
sprang to his feet and said with considerable excitement: "Gentlemen,
somebody has been razing 'Hell' here!" Years afterward the good
prelate's death was made sweet by the reflection that he had been the

immortal addition to the phraseology of the English tongue.

HALF, n. One of two equal parts into which a thing may be divided, or
considered as divided. In the fourteenth century a heated discussion
arose among theologists and philosophers as to whether Omniscience
could part an object into three halves; and the pious Father
Aldrovinus publicly prayed in the cathedral at Rouen that God would
demonstrate the affirmative of the proposition in some signal and
unmistakable way, and particularly (if it should please Him) upon the
body of that hardy blasphemer, Manutius Procinus, who maintained the
negative. Procinus, however, was spared to die of the bite of a
viper.

FOREFINGER, n. The finger commonly used in pointing out two

Day in the Park

I wanted to say thank you to kifar for organizing a fun day in the park.

Got there a bit late, which was around 2. I was completely out of it behind the wheel driving to the park and missed the correct junction (twice) and almost got me and sp_hexonxonx killed. Once we arrived, we discovered that we somehow beat most of the other people there so we just chatted with kifar, leifterry, aquaregalia, and Mark. We also broke out with the pie and had a decent time.

When experimentium and sperenza arrived, we began RUF. Unfortunately, the game didn't last very long due to lack of players and lack of ability of the players to sustain a run but it was a decent time. leifterry had to go back to work, so we decided to go buy a kickball to play kickball. Our team lost the first round horribly, and decided to remake teams when machine_kisses and Mark number two arrived. A wandering kid in the park decided to join us and soon became the star player of the game. This was a pretty good game that lasted a fair amount of time before it ended due to a rivet assault on an Ice Cream Truck. The star player left with his family and we then called it a day.

So, overall it was a good time. I wish a few more people would have shown up to play, but it worked out in the end. My only complaint is I should have been more wise picking shoes due to a blood blisters that have formed on my feet. :\

Ahh... the wonders of 4 AM, where everything takes on surreal tones.

So, my department at work had their budget cut so I was let go. I have had one interview and a few good leads since, so hopefully this won't last nearly as long as my last round of unemployment. Learning Python, XML, DOMs, and XPath real quick like will help in this.

I have decided my computer is trying to kill itself. Not only didn't the power supply burn itself out, but also the fans on my video card literally tried to fly off. I am happy that when my video cards GPU got hotter than the coolant in my engine after driving 100 miles, it didn't permanently fry itself. The power supply has been successfully replaced (and now my wall has a blue LED glow to it) and a new heat sink is in the mail.

Anywho, it seems like I will be attending Adrenochrome tomorrow. Anybody else out there making the evening journey as well?

My Randomly Full Day (Written While Nearly Asleep)

Woke up at 7 am, ate breakfast and showered.

Hopped into my car at 7:30 am and arrived at work at 8:45.

Worked from 8:45 to 1:45, during which the manager of the southbay team shows me the company IT library with enough Cisco books to prepare for any of the certs.

1:45 hits and I take on the duty of retrieving office coffee and getting lunch. Give my special Starbucks order to the woman working there who takes it, makes the drink, and writes the proper way to order it for next time on the paper. Good times had by all.

2:45 back at work. Boss leaves to go to Church at 3. Sometime, around 5:15, IT guy wanders around and I ask him a question about the books. This turns into him leading me around the office telling me about both IT and stuff involving the company. The owner of the book gets out of a meeting and he picks up where the original gets off. He shows me a lot and gives me great information, and then we realize that the office is empty and it is 7:45.

Return calls to friend (also discovering that I broke the interweb), agreed to meet up with a friend in Fremont at 8:30 for a quick game of pool since she is visiting for a week. Get there, she is running late, so I get milk at Bay Street, wander a bit, and then have to call it off so I can do my plans for that evening. Rescheduled for later that week.

Went by parent's house to chat for a bit and pick up mail.

Drove back to Redwood City to pick up my Partner 'n Crime. We then drive to Mountain View, hit up 7-11, and she gets me in to Adr.

Partner 'n Crime's man is MIA, so we swing by his house, and then we get food because we can't find him. Return to Adr. Chill in parking lot for a bit before I lock my keys in my car. AAA luckily has mad ninja action and keys are retrieved in under 20 minutes.

We receive a call saying that we need to go back to the house to get CDs for the Partner 'n Crime's man. Keys, however, are also MIA do to their daring escape plan earlier that day. Luckily, with some searching they were found and the problem was resolved.

Got back to Adr, some people looked happy, some sad, some angry, and some drunk. Thinking no longer working, I called it a night.

My current question for the audience is, why after a full day does one not fill fulfilled?

This has been a rather eventful week. It has overall been a good week.

Thursday was trips three and four to SF. lynxcat’s car died to him on the way to the club he was doing in SF so I picked up him and his posse and headed up there. Once we got there, it was discovered that his CDs were missing and that they needed to be found so djscarlette and I went on a grand adventure through Mountain View and San Jose to locate them. After they were found, we headed back and made it to the club with 30 minutes to spare before the doors opened.

I had a good night; the place’s decorations were great, I enjoyed the music, and had good company. My only complaint was a lot of people who said they were going to come didn’t and the place didn’t get as nearly as many people as expected.

The previous two trips to SF involved the club MEAT and Death Guild. Both involved fliers and standing in rain and cold for a large amount of time trying to convince people to go to the Thursday club. Well, in truth djscarlette was fliering, I was just moral support. It was nice seeing sperenza, experimentium, sanguina, violenze, and others around SF. I wish I would see all of you more often.

Besides the evening events, much random fun in the form of Thrift Stores, restaurants, and the Family Guy were had.

Another week is done and I must say it has been pretty good.

Went to Adrenochrome on Wednesday and had a good time. Danced to a few songs, chatted with some people that I don’t nearly see enough, and took Mr. Charles home. Definitely going to try to make it out for the 2 Year Anniversary next week.

Thursday I forced my sleeping schedule back to normal hours and headed up to SF for the Game Developers Conference. Wandered around, watched presentations and new games, grabbed the information for companies hiring programmers, and handed my resume off to Blizzard. I would give my left arm to work for Blizzard North. *crosses fingers* After that got Sushi at the Metreon, met up with Mr. leifterry and relaxed outside in SF for a few hours. Then it was to the Mont for a friend’s birthday dinner.

Today was my job interview that was done at a coffee shop. It went rather well. The only problem is that job itself may or may not exist. He seemed really interested though so which is really good. It is a small company (I would be employee #6) but I am friends with two people who work there already so that helps.

So, hopefully work from SOMETHING will work out. I can't stand this whole unemployment thing but things are looking up.

The Move

The move in now over and everything I think I need is here. The internet fairy (aka UPS) came with a magic box today, and everything is working ahead of schedule. I still need to empty a couple of boxes, but I am mostly done.

I am right next to Oakridge Mall, so if any of you are in the area and want to hang out, please feel free to give me call. Hell, if you want to just hang out and you aren't anywhere near it, that would be awesome. I am feeling strangely... social after moving.

Nothing like migraine induced dreams from hell to make me be awake at the wee hours of the morning.

Nothing terribly new with me. Still need to get the last of my stuff from San Jose. Been hanging out with aislinfey a bunch the last week, looking for work, and borrowed season 1 of Angel and not really caring for it. Not having any money so no VNV for me. I have also been getting up at normal people hours which is interesting. New Years was a party where I sort of knew five people out of 50 or so. I was entertained with people watching so it turned out well.

Well, I am now mostly moved. My furniture is set up at my new place with my computer. I have some more boxes to move but it shouldn't take more than 2 trips. Moving furniture last night in the rain was an... experience.

According to this Newsweek Article, 55% of Americans polled believe "every word of the Bible is literally accurate." I don't know about the rest of you, but this makes me a tad bit nervous.

I just got off the phone with an EA recruiter. Not sure how well the phone interview went, she said "cool" a lot. I will know by the end of the week if they want to actually interview me or not. It isn't a local EA, so if I get this job, I will be moving somewhere far east of here.

Tonight began the Halloween weekend with a blast. Went over to kifar and leifterry’s house to meet leifterry’s girlfriend who he is leaving the state for. After that, headed on over to PDR’s house for some more fun. There was Serious Business had at both parties, but more at PDR’s place. For some reason though, I feel depressed after the experience. Oh well.

I had a wonderful weekend thanks to spending time with a few friends. Calls were made, movies were watched, and just general mayhem was had.

Tonight I even made it out to Revolution and watched The Grudge. I enjoyed The Grudge immensely. hektikat’s screams added to the atmosphere. Revolution was all Halloweeny and was fun.

My weekend was SO good that I totally lost track of what day it is so I have received my first parking ticket thanks to weekly street cleaning. Oh well.
